Secoras Deadwood Creations   is a family owned, operated, and built Secora Family business from the ground up. We are a small company that specializes in rustic cabins and very unique rustic furniture and home decor made of reclaimed material from around our area. We are native to Bozeman, Montana and have just opened up a showroom near Gallatin Gateway, MT, which is just southwest of Bozeman.

It all started    with Rick Secora and his wife Kathy. Rick has been building in the area for the last 30 years. He and Kathy bought some land on the Madison River and started building their own dream home, a log house out in the country. This was 22 years ago, and with the help of their growing family over the years, they now have their own little paradise.

Rick and Gus Secora It was at the beginning  of his construction career that Rick developed his own unique style of building. It was when he started working for himself that his style really took off. He started building cabins in the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, MT before any other building began. Not only did he build cabins, but all the touches to the cabins that made them look rustic, unusual, and just plain fantastic.

He then built   many other fine architectural features in many of the lodges and restaurants and private clubs in and around Big Sky. He has built thousands of feet of handrail of all different styles from the beginning when his style was more like the picket style to a more unique style of the twisty and gnarly handrails. This style has become increasingly popular with his regular customers. He has also created rustic doorways, window trims, funky staircases, log mantels, and many other artistic touches to make these structures as natural and wild as the forest around them.

Rick and Gus SecoraIn this time   he has also been designing interior beauty as well as his famous exterior art. Using wood that he has scavenged from fallen timber to timber that was cleared to make the ski runs, he has really managed to bring the feel of the wild Montana outdoors in and incorporate it to create the feel of a rustic yet comfortable home.

Over the years,  Rick has continued to build unique pieces all the while teaching his skill to his son, Gus. Gus started working with wood at the young age of 13, and now at the age of 23 he is a log fitting extraordinaire. So together they are a pair of skilled artisans. They take great pride Gus Secorain their work and build very high quality pieces. All of the furniture they make is created out of materials that have been reclaimed. A lot of the wood has either fallen on its own, been killed by bugs, or been burnt in a forest fire. They have learned to utilize the old pieces and turn them into masterpieces all while keeping the natural shape the wood has in its environment as to not take away from the beauty of nature. They bring out and emphasize the real form from the natural patterns of growth the trees have.

Rick Secora with Starter WoodAll wood   is dried thoroughly to avoid shrinkage and twisting. They rarely use conventional wood which in turn produces their one of a kind and often odd, but extremely beautiful pieces.

Each and every piece   is unique in its own way. No two pieces are alike, nor are they like anything else that is found out there. Each piece of furniture is hand scribed and fitted. They use their woodworking experience as well as input for homeowners to create custom made pieces that fit each individual home. Their customers like the distinctness and quality of each piece.

As a family owned business,   we take great pride in our business. They all take part in Jessica Secoraevery aspect of it. From Rick and Gus who do the creating and building, to Kathy who helps run the showroom, as well as creates willow frames, beautiful quilts, and many other pieces of art. Along with their daughter, Jessica, with her business degree and background manages the business end, the showroom, and retail space.
